July 2023 saw Pro Squad swimmer Reuben Rowbotham-Keating and Head Coach Mark Rose selected to be part of the Great Britain Swimming Team at the European Junior Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. This follows on from the club’s success in 2022, where Reuben and Mark were joined by fellow Pro squad swimmers Toby Hill and Caitlin Lansom who raced at the event staged in Romania.

The meet is always one of the best in the world with many national, continental and World Records being broken throughout the meet.

Reuben had a busy programme with multiple individual events along with relays throughout the week.

Mark coached not only Reuben but several of the British Team swimmers from across the country.

The facilities were fantastic, and the weather was very hot! 38 degrees on some days, meaning that for us Brits, it was a real challenge.

Whilst the racing was indoors, there was no air conditioning as such, just ventilation, meaning that the environment was very hot!

All warm ups and team areas were outside in the sun! (good for Mark, not so good for Reuben 😊)

Reuben qualified for a number of second swims and finals, both individually and in team relays.

A great set of swims in a very challenging environment that was great fun to be part of. Especially in such a historic and interesting city!
